Dr Jim Hagan

Deputy Director-General

Dr Jim HaganJim Hagan was appointed Deputy Director-General of the Office of National Assessments (ONA) in September 2011.

Before joining ONA Dr Hagan was an Executive Director with the World Bank where he oversaw a constituency of 14 countries, a position he held from 2007. 

Originally joining the APS in 1983, Dr Hagan is an experienced Commonwealth public servant who has held various senior executive positions including Chief Advisor (International) at The Treasury (2006-2007), and Undersecretary to the Solomon Islands Department of Finance and Treasury deployed under the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) (2004-2006).  Other positions include managing Treasury's Domestic Economy Division, Foreign Investment Policy Division, GST Start-Up Assistance Office, Business Tax Policy Division and Industry and Competition Policy Division.  Dr Hagan has also held senior executive positions in New Zealand Treasury (1992-1998) covering environment, labour market and tax policy.

Dr Hagan obtained his PhD in Economics from the Australian National University.  He was awarded the Public Service Medal in June 2002 for outstanding public service in the development and management of the Goods and Services Tax Start-Up Assistance Office. 

 Dr Hagan is married, with two sons.
